_Our friends in the East

Our friends from Montreal have turned out two high quality edits recently, the first being Sylvain Chaussée, known to most as Sushi. Sushi put out a cool edit a month ago with some Toronto Taylor clips in… and Dan takes the roughest death I’ve seen anyone take in a while.

Stephane Julien came to live in Toronto with Marie and their son William last summer for a while before moving back to Montreal, and we miss the three of them very much. Here Stephane skates The Taz skatepark in an after-hours session. Miss you dude.

_Job Post: Teach rollerblading at the Brampton Skatepark

So I recently got an email from Sean Mindle, the head instructor for inline at the Brampton Park. He’s looking for an instructor this summer to teach rollerblading on Saturday mornings. See his description:

It would only be one day a week, which is Saturday mornings from like 10am to 1pm. There is two age groups, first being ages 10-18 and second being 19+, so the individual needs to enjoy working with children and confident enough to teach adults (Potentially). Staff training begins at the end of April.

If this interests you then send me an email, and I can refer you to him. If I didn’t have a fulltime job I would definitely consider this – it would be a lot of fun. I have taught rollerblading before and it’s truly rewarding. It’s definitely not for the money, but if you enjoy inspiring a young blader then this is for you. But you still get paid to blade!

Send me an email to dave@bramptoncomp.com if you’re interested and I’ll be happy to refer you to Sean.

Also be sure to check out the Brampton Comp which will be happening sometime in June this year.

_Ruh roh… Spoke too soon?

Uh oh. Just when you thought it was safe to break out the teeshirts and tuck your wellington boots away for another year, along comes a rainy weekend to remind you that March ain’t over bub- and you could still easily be caught unawares.

Things seemed alright on Thursday night as Boyle, Corey, Ghent, Erik and I met to skate the downtown core. While windy, the first spot failed to turn into a bust and we had a decent 45 minute rollabout before the windtunnel we were skating in between buildings proved too much to bear.

Boyle ended up dominating a few spots downtown; While Dave and I were back royaling up the Hilton rail (Erik nearly squashed a woman with a back farv) Boyle stuck a sweet front farv to 540 out.

_Finnish box edit

Teppo and I started talking on farcebook recently. We’ve been getting into some deep discussions about skating, life and religion, which I’ve found both challenging and thought-provoking. He put an edit together for fun and will be back in the GTA this summer.
