_To Guelph we go

With the outlook showing clear, bright but cold we set out early from Toronto for a day of excitement. Cambridge bowl has recently been completed so having googlemapped it, we wanted to check it out.

Review: Fun, but ultimately far too small to be much of a session. If the bowl had the same layout but was twice the size or depth, it’d be incredible! As it stands we tired of its tight transitions quickly and moved on to Kitchener. Taylor laced a mental trick I’m sure we’ll see at some point, Dan landed a topsoul to true topsoul, landing by rolling down a crazy bank and I did the same with a true top porn.

We hit a few other places including the legendary Guelph ledge, before ending up in Milton to wind down… and lots of our friends were there! The most rollerbladers in that park in a long time. A great day indeed, I hope you enjoy the photos, hover for picture details.

_Vert is not dead.

I think we may be on the cusp of a vert revival in Toronto, despite the bad timing- I give it two weeks before its the weather is too nice to be skating indoors any longer! Tonight we met Ivan from Bulgaria, who almost but not quite convinced me to jump out of a plane for fun. I sense my heart going into conniptions at the very thought of it. NOW BACK TO VERT- Alex is learning inverts! And is super close to getting a palm on the coping, next session for sure. Stu was silky as always with zerospin switch mistrials and Brayden was a trooper, taking the time to find his vert legs and getting some decent height out of it. Thanks to Nate, CJ’s may be becoming bearable.

_2010 Kickoff in HD

After a week of the greatest weather and filming with our new mark II I’ve got a fresh new edit to acompany the new site layout. Thanks everyone for coming out, it was great to see you all. Don’t mind the camera shake, I’m just warming up and also make sure you check the HD button on vimeo.

Cheers.

_Lion Ledge

We’re tired… dog tired. We have some big changes coming really soon to our blog and subsequently have been filming hard this week to wrap up our first HD edit ever- and after a winter neglecting our street skating muscles, we’re all feeling it. It doesn’t help that last night Corey had a housewarming party with a fridge full of 40s. Uhhhhhn. With the weather rapidly turning pear-shaped we ventured out into flurries of snow to skate the Lion Ledge, where we had a hilarious skate and watched Mike get some real hammer tricks locked down.

Highlights of the session:
Corey impressed us all with a sexy backslide around the curve.
I love front farvs.
Corey and Dave mug it up for the camera at every opportunity.

I love Kyle. He says he wants to skate at least twice a week- will he follow through on it? I for one will welcome it- his constant humility and kindness towards other human beings often leaves me speechless. Kyle, I’m sorry you live two hours away, but you really need to come visit more often. Real Talk.

Good times were had! I can’t wait for a summer full of these sessions. Thanks again Corey for a fun party.
