Kevin’s Blade Stash – Part 1.

So for those who don’t know, I had an unfortunate accident back in November,  tearing the ACL in my right knee to shreds, leaving me unable to blade until this coming September.  Balls.

In the mean time, I’ve been pulling out some old gems from the Dekalzshop days and started messing with different setups.

I’m using a pair of Original New Old Stock (NOS) black size 7 Albert Hooi UFS throne shells as the base, and building around it with various cuffs, liners, laces, soul kids and frames/wheels.

Here’s the list of goodies I have so far:

  • NOS – Red 2 piece souls
  • NOS – Abdiel Colberg souls (Grey rear, black front)
  • NOS – Black 2 piece souls
  • NOS – White Diamond Hooi 3 piece souls with white backslide
  • NOS – Chrome Sagona 3 piece, front and back chrome, black backslide
  • NOS – Black 3 piece (Thank you Tim Adams!)
  • Extra White 3 piece heel plates
  • Kizer Slimline Turquoise  Frames (Thank you Mark Korte and The Conference)
  • Kizer Slimline White Frames
  • Kizer Slimline team Frames
  • White GC Featherlite 1 Frames
  • Jug Precise Liners
  • Sifika Carlos Pianowski 7 Liners

Here are just a few of the setups that I could think of…. post if you want to see something different.

What should I skate? Help me pick. I should have black cuffs and buckles really soon, if that helps you decide.

The Truth 2 – Coming to Toronto

I spoke with Austin Paz in NY last week and he’s been nice enough to send me some copies of the Truth 2 for Rolltoronto.ca I’m going to be trying to co-ordinate a screening of the DVD at my house and I will also have copies of it available for sale.

I’ll keep everyone posted when they arrive. In the mean time, here’s the latest trailer for the video:

Roll Toronto International – London UK visit

I was lucky enough to go away on a vacation with my girlfriend to London, UK for 10 days or rest and relaxation.  In that short week we packed in lots of tourist sight seeing, amazing meals with new and old friends all the while fitting in a bit of skating.

The week before I had left for this trip, due to my own stupidity, I had accidentally unstitched the base of the right skin on my Nimh, making the right skate un usable.  With no time to get to it re-stitched, I dusted off an old Razors Shima 3 boot and slapped on the Nimh Soul plates, creating a usable pair of skates. I packed my Sagona/Kelso jockin’ boots along with me to try and get some skating in on a new continent.

The first opportunity to skate in London was at the infamous South Bank Park.  Basically it’s a legal area on the south bank of the Thames River where skateboarders, bladers and bmx’ers are allowed to skate some weird flat banks, a few covered ledges and graffiti artists are allowed to paint walls.  I met local 11-year-old Reuben skating all by himself, hucking 180’s and some grinds on the small ledges.  Big up Reuben for hooking me up with a sweet Adidas notebook!

Later that week, through the beauty of the Internet I was able to meet up with London street shredder and OG Blake Bird at the Mile End tube stop for some park skating.  FYI, Blake and the London heads are putting together a new video; watch out for some fresh skating in the coming months.

The park was rammed with bikers and skateboarders but we both managed to get some fun tricks in.
